Drywall

Measure the space above your toilet, choose a freestanding unit or wall-mounted shelves, and secure them into studs or with heavy-duty drywall anchors. Ensure proper clearance so the unit doesn’t interfere with the toilet lid.

For tile, use a carbide-tipped drill bit to avoid cracks, then insert wall anchors. For drywall, find studs or use heavy-duty toggle bolts. Always check weight limits and use appropriate hardware for stability.

Locate and anchor into wall studs for maximum support. If studs aren’t aligned, use heavy-duty toggle bolts or molly bolts in drywall. Always use a level to ensure it’s straight.

Use heavy-duty hollow wall anchors or toggle bolts that spread weight across the drywall, and always anchor into studs when possible for mirrors over 20 pounds.

Basic tools include a screwdriver, wire strippers, drill, drywall saw, duct tape, and a voltage tester. You may also need ductwork, insulation, and a vent cover depending on the installation.
