Landscape Rocks
Landscape rocks are a great way to solve common yard problems. If you have a spot where grass won't grow, like under a big tree or in a shady corner, filling it with rocks creates a neat, low-maintenance area. They are also perfect for stopping soil erosion on a small slope or in a drainage ditch. Simply lay a bed of rocks in the troubled spot. The rocks will hold the soil in place when it rains and guide water away from your house, protecting your foundation. It’s a fix that looks good and works hard.
Before you start, always put down a layer of landscape fabric. This sturdy cloth goes directly on the dirt before you add any rocks. It acts as a super-strong weed barrier, stopping weeds from pushing up through your beautiful rock design. The fabric also keeps your rocks from slowly sinking down into the mud over time. For the easiest installation, use smaller, rounded rocks like pea gravel or river rock. They are much simpler to move and spread with a regular shovel and rake than large, heavy stones. A little planning makes this a weekend project anyone can handle.
