Storage Tip
Garage Storage
A cluttered garage makes any project harder. Start by getting everything off the floor. Use simple, sturdy shelves for paint cans and toolboxes. Hang long-handled tools like rakes and shovels on a wall with hooks or a pegboard. For smaller items, clear plastic bins are a lifesaver. Label each bin with its contents, like "plumbing supplies" or "holiday decorations," so you can find what you need in a flash. Keeping the floor clear not only gives you space to work, but it also helps prevent accidents and makes it easier to sweep up sawdust or spills.
Before you start any DIY project, gather all your tools and materials first. There's nothing more frustrating than being halfway through a job and having to dig through a messy garage for a screwdriver. Create a simple "project kit" in a handled toolbox or a five-gallon bucket. Put in your safety glasses, tape measure, a hammer, a few screwdrivers, and the specific fasteners or parts for your task. This keeps everything together and portable. When you're done, take five minutes to put your tools back in their labeled spots and sweep your work area. This habit saves huge amounts of time and stress on your next repair.
