Lighting Tip
Vanity Lights
Vanity lights are the fixtures around your bathroom mirror. They often stop working because a single bulb has burned out. Even if other bulbs still shine, one dead bulb can break the complete electrical path. Your first and easiest step is to replace every single bulb with new ones of the exact same type and wattage. This simple swap fixes the problem most of the time. Always turn off the light switch and let the old bulbs cool before you gently twist them out.
If new bulbs do not work, the issue is likely with the power. Go to your home's main electrical panel and find the switch that controls the bathroom. Flip it firmly to the "off" position and then back to "on." This resets the circuit. When you are sure the power is off at the fixture, you can check for loose wires. Unscrew the fixture's decorative cover and look for any wire that has come loose from its screw terminal. Tighten any loose connections carefully. Remember, if you are ever unsure or uncomfortable, stop and call a licensed electrician.
